Hi! As I hope you have already gathered, my name is Maureen Coleman and this is my blog! I am 19 years old and I am studying Interior Design at High Point University in North Carolina. Being originally from Central New York, I will always be a northern girl at heart. (I’m sure most of you reading this already know me, but as a formality I had to say it)
I am an artistically and creatively driven person who works hard and finds that I often prefer to put others before myself. My career track is composed of my dream to be a residential Interior Designer. The idea of creating personal spaces for clients with the combination of their wants and needs and my own personal expertise excites me so much. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had an eye for detail, especially when it came to room design and aesthetics.. hell I didn’t even know what that word meant yet, but I definitely had the natural understanding.
Lastly, without trying to make this sound like a dating site profile, I will let you in on some of my interests and hobbies… I absolutely love to read (I don’t do it as often as I would like, but God knows I have limited time at this moment in my collegiate life haha), I love being outside (sunshine preferred), I enjoy binge watching a show on Netflix from time to time (currently it’s Mad Men), I love trying new things, especially new food of course! I have a travel bug and I am always itching to go on an adventure, even if that means I get to take a trip to my local Target or something… I’ll try to make it entertaining. Nothing like browsing through the 1$, 3$, and 5$ section for a good five minutes right when you walk in… ask any Target lover, they know.
I have an odd interest in antiques and objects that bring me nostalgia. I am such a sentimental person and find I hold on to the silliest doodads. One of my favorite things to do (usually when I am in the middle of a complete clean up of my room at home) is go through everything from when I was a little girl and look back on what I’ve done and what sparked my interest then. I think that is why I love old things, because they’ve held so many memories and purposes in their lifetime and I get to be a part of it in mine too.
My music taste is so eclectic it’s bizarre… for example, on my iTunes, I have a range from Breaking Benjamin to Chris Young to Drake and Adele. Let’s just say I love music. All kinds (except screaming, I cannot stand that…but hey, respect to those who can listen to it).
I love girly things and boyish things… make up, pretty smelling shower scrubs, and nice shoes… or football, mud, large vehicles and tools (i.e. a wrench and hammer.. not a cocky guy who’s all about himself obviously). I am a whole melting pot of different interests. Which isn’t a bad thing right?
As far as hobbies go, I draw and paint occasionally (less than I really should) and I enjoy taking photos too. Also, I am such a history buff that I am counting it as a hobby. I’m minoring in it at school and it has always fascinated me, so there’s my justification. I collect old tea cups… is that a hobby? Or is that just weird? Oh I don’t know, but who cares. No shame!! And finally, I guess I can now add this blog to my hobbies list too.
If you have made it this far, congrats, you’re the real MVP for continuing on with reading. And with that, I leave you with happy thoughts of what tomorrow may bring you.
Thanks for listening,
